Props and Costumes Preliminary Task 2

Props and Costumes:

Phone:

This will be used for two phone calls. One before the kidnapping between the husband and the wife and one after to show she's been kidnapped.







Car:

This will be used to show the husband arriving home to the house where the wife is no longer there.








Kitchen equipment (Tea-cup, kitchen knife):

This will be used to show the wife living her normal life and have a false sense of security before the kidnapping. The use of the knife in the normal setting hints to the impending act of violence.

Costumes:

Kidnapper:

He will be wearing fully dark clothes to match his dark intentions and also the practicality of not being seen before he reveals himself. He will mainly be seen only as a shadow and so this outfit will be an accessory.


















Lily (Wife):

Since she is at home she will be in casual clothing - a jumper and sweatpants to give that false sense of security I mentioned,














Ryle (Husband):

He will be in a casual suit as he comes home from work

shot practise Foundation Portfolio

  We tried practicing a one whole shot that is inspired by 1917. We realised through this that timing is going to be really important but also holding the camera very steady so that we get nice smooth shots; especially when moving angles. During these shots I was talking Samuel through what those different angles would be and the timing at which he would move. These are the shots we got on film night. We did a few practice shots at our initial location but turned out super grainy due to low lighting. We played around with the camera for a bit but there was still too much grain. It was useful though as practice runs to get Samuel used to the camera movements and the actors used to their roles and what they would be doing. We then went to our second location which had much greater lighting and left us with much clearer and greater quality. This is a practice shot we got before we did any real shots. Once again we were walking through to make sure everyone was on the same page.

Film Schedule Preliminary Task 2

 Filming Day: 12th April 2022 or 19th April 2022 5.45pm - Crew meet and set up 6.15pm - Film establishing shot and Lily in the kitchen 6.30pm - Film phone call to Ryle and beginning to make tea 6.45pm - Shots of stalker outside 6.55pm - Shadows and silhouettes 7.00pm - Filming heading to bed (walking through house) 7.10pm - Film moon shot (time passing) 7.15pm - Ryle's car pulling in to driveway 7.30pm - walking to door, seeing something's off 7.45pm - Ryle walking through house seeing it empty 8.00pm - Film empty bedroom (curtains billowing in wind) 8.05pm - Filming phone call from kidnapper (scream on other end of the line.) 8.20pm - Anything that needs touching up. 8.30pm - FINISH

  Preliminary Task 2 – Treatment   Niav Rice   AS Media Studies     A TREATMENT FOR AT BAY   SNN FILMS – NIAV'S TREATMENT   6/O4/2022     It is proposed that the film will be of 1.30 to 2.00 minutes in duration, and that it will be filmed at Niav’s house as it fits the warm and welcoming yet eerie feeling we are trying to accomplish . This film is a home invasion film and therefore requires a home that seems safe but also causes an uneasy feeling once inside. This location is also suitable as I know where everything is, including lights and power sources which will come in useful once filming.
