split --> psychological thriller
opening scene:

get out --> abduction scene; typical and simple but really effective
opening scene:

bookends --> A parallel between the opening and closing sequences or shots in a film. The first scene is re-visioned, with only minor changes, in the film's final scene leaving the audience with a feeling of completion; what was started is now finished. Although we are only filming an opening scene it's cool to think about how it could be a bookend and if that would make sense to happen in the plot of our film.
An example --> inception

MacGuffin --> A MacGuffin is a plot device used in films or books that sets the characters into motion and drives the story. A MacGuffin is an object, idea, person, or goal that the characters are either in pursuit of or which serves as motivation for their actions.
An example --> mission impossible 3

A flash forward starting with the end of the film --> annihilation

In media res --> start with action (mission impossible: ghost protocol)

shutter island --> psychological thriller
opening scene:

start with the crime --> knives out
